BTCCSquare news:

PancakeSwap's official Chinese-language X account was compromised on October 8, with attackers using it to promote a fraudulent meme coin named "Sir Pancake." The breach was confirmed by the PancakeSwap team, who warned users against interacting with any links from the account while working to resolve the issue.

The scam token briefly saw trading volumes surge to $20 million shortly after launch, as reported by community members. Despite the warning, Dexscreener data shows the token's market cap at $2.6 million, with $45.2 million in trading volume, indicating continued speculative activity.

PancakeSwap has engaged X's support to regain control of the account and reiterated that updates will only be shared through their main official channel. The incident underscores the persistent risks of social media-based crypto scams.
